Probably the best upgrade to improve the safety of your van is to replace the front brakes with upgraded items. The standard front brakes on both 2WD and Syncro variants of the T25 are small, unvented discs. This means on heavily loaded, or faster vans it's very easy to overheat the front brakes. Overheated brakes mean lower stopping power again and a danger of boiling your brake fluid, with possible total brake failure. Fortunately the Volkswagen Audi Group have provided a wide range of brake parts that are available to upgrade the standard T25 front brakes. A large number of vehicles were sold with PCD 5x112 hubs, which means brakes from vehicles like the VW Sharan, Audi 100 and Seat Leon can be fitted using many standard parts. | Standard T25 Brakes |
288mm Vented Brakes | This is an example of a 288mm vented replacement brake. With the drilled rotor and the venting on this disc the replacement brakes will provide comprehensively improved stopping power. Because the single piston in the Audi caliper is the same size as the T25 caliper it is not necessary to replace the brake master cylinder - for the same distance in pedal travel you get the same movement in the caliper piston.
